Founded by Dr. Ruben Rausing, Tetra Pak was born from a vision to make milk safe, accessible, and easy to distribute. In 1961, they introduced the world’s first aseptic carton package — a six-layer packaging solution integrating paperboard, aluminum, and polyethylene that preserved food for months without refrigeration or preservatives. This breakthrough remains one of the most important food science innovations of the 20th century.

The Problem

Food waste is one of the biggest sustainability challenges of our time:

• 🌏 Asia accounts for 40% of global food loss and waste.
• In India, an estimated 74 million tonnes of food is wasted each year, worth over ₹92,000 crore.

Circular Economy Alignment
