Global brands signing up to The Climate Pledge are committed to hitting the Paris Agreement targets 10 years early by being net-zero carbon by 2040. The initiative, led by Amazon and Global Optimism, has already attracted more than 200 of the biggest names in business.
Combined all the companies signed up to the pledge, including HEINEKEN, Telefónica, Scania and Visa, employ millions of people and generate trillions of dollars in annual sales across dozens of countries. Their power and scale will be vital in the fight against climate change.
I look forward to the fruits of the leadership we will see from this collective of 200 signatories that are now part of The Climate Pledge

“Amazon co-founded The Climate Pledge in 2019 to encourage companies to reach the goals of the Paris Agreement 10 years early, and we’re seeing incredible momentum behind the pledge,” said Jeff Bezos, Amazon founder and CEO. “Together, we can use our collective scale to help decarbonise the economy and preserve Earth for future generations.”
HEINEKEN, one of the signatories, recently released its net zero strategy, backed by science based targets, which incorporates support for a just transition to clean power, as well as cooling innovations and clean packaging.
“I believe we are currently at a moment where the tide is turning. After decades of unchecked rises in emissions, the world is waking up. HEINEKEN, and others, are making bold, ambitious pledges towards zero carbon,” said HEINEKEN’S CEO and chairman, Dolf Van Den Brink. “Our commitments are woven into the fabric of our balanced growth strategy, EverGreen. The journey to net zero is going to be challenging. It will require coordinated action. As HEINEKEN, we’re determined to live up to our promises and realise our ambitions.”
